ANGER
MANAGEMENT
How well you handle anger will have a major impact on how well things
go for you in life. Suppress it, and it damages your health and disturbs
your peace of mine. Explode, and you hurt people and undermine relationships.
Other people’s anger is also a challenge to handle. Learn the
nuts and bolts of this key emotion so you can make it work for you
instead of becoming a problem. Personal relationships will be covered
as well as work situations. A variety of anger related tools will
be demonstrated, not just discussed.

HANDLING
EVERYDAY CONFRONTATIONS
Coming up against other people is an unavoidable part of life. Our
lives are full of ordinary little encounters like asking the boss
for a raise, being criticized by a significant other, needing to say
no to a request, trying to get into a lane in traffic, apologizing
for hurting someone, or riding herd on subordinates at work. These
experiences put pressure on us and we often don’t use our very
best smarts or achieve the best results. Sometimes we are left with
lingering bad feelings. If you have trouble holding your ground, people
will walk on you. If you over-react, you will create bad scenes and
be exposed to backlash. Perhaps you get into recurrent patterns with
people where you keep on doing the same ineffective thing. Skillful
handling of everyday conflicts will get you more respect and co-operation
and will leave you feeling better about yourself. Poor handling of
other people will just bring you hassle and bruised feelings. This
class will teach you more about dealing with fear, anger, defensiveness,
ego, abuse, games, intimidation misunderstanding and whatever else
creates friction in your relations with people. Even if you already
have a high level of skill dealing with people, you can still learn
more.

UNDERSTANDING
EMOTIONAL LOGIC
Do you get frustrated or thrown sometimes by people's emotional reactions?
Wouldn’t it be simpler to deal with people if everyone acted
logically? Actually, they do act logically if you can understand the
logic of emotions. Skill at handling the emotions that underlie people’s
behavior, will greatly empower you in your career and relationships.
In this class, we will discuss some of the aspects of people's emotional
workings that influence how they will react to you. Some of the subjects
to be covered are ego, defensiveness, personal territory, need for
control, proving, abandonment fear, intimacy, how we become conditioned,
hope and disappointment, susceptibility to shame and guilt, acting
out, trust, respect and dignity,
